Commodore writer's night

The Writer's night at The Commodore Was great! There was a good turnout, great sound and a the performers had alot of fun. We all sang together on the very last song and tried to get everyone to participate. I don't know what the song was. But I do know that I just had to harmonize on the words "Love, Hope and Jesus". haha. It was a fun time and I will certainly play there again. Great food too!!!!!
Thanks Rachel for hanging out with me that evening and being my support.
I love you. :)

BRING ON THE MUSIC!

So I'm finally out of school this Saturday and it's time to do this music thing for real this time. Thanks to my awesome wife Rachel who, during the intermission of a Carry Underwood concert last night in Nashville, encouraged me to "go for it". Wow. That's so cool. Everything happens for a reason. I needed to get burned out from playing. I needed to marry Rachel. I needed to finish school to have a good backup plan. And now, I need to do what I feel as though I was made for. The thing that comes so natural and just feels right...and that's Music.

I'll keep you posted on what's happening as I find out. ;)

QUICK UPDATE

Hey party people!  I just wanted to drop a line to say hey. The end of my college career is running at me full speed. I've got less than 6 weeks left. My wife and I are extremely excited. I haven't updated this site much because as you know I haven't really had much of a reason to honestly.  With school and work there is honestly NO time for playing.  I've been putting all of my computer time in to this:

As far as music goes, I started recording the actual version of "Your Eyes" about a month ago and haven't had time to go finish it yet. I've also been rehearsing with Jeff Tayler, a singer-songwriter based here in Nashville.  I plan on doing a few shows with him on drums in the months ahead. He has played at the NASCAR race in Indiana as well as some other cool festivals and places downtown. It will be a fun gig when I actually find the time for it.  I've also been talking with some local venues about booking shows after Christmas and early into the new year such as Rocketown and The Frist art museum.  It will be fun!  Thanks for checking in!

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?

Where have I been?  I've been getting married (June 14th)! FINALLY!   I have been working and approaching my final and what will be a crazy semester of school.  I will finally have a B.S. in Fine Arts for Graphic Design. What a big year it has been! As you can tell the music part of me has been put on "low" and is only audible to those who are taking music lessons from me.  I have been working on new songs and I do have a studio who is ready to record everything I need. That oven is warm, I'm just not ready to put the bread in it yet.  (Weird analogy huh?)  I have a few dates planned to back up Avery Hovey either on guitar or drums, depending on what the shows call for.  I also have a few solo gigs lined up for September.  I am realizing more and more that it's not about time running out in our life.  It's about refining what we have, doing the best with what we're given and then watching the important things sort of fall in to place. I thought for a long time that I wanted to be in the limelight and traveling the world to share my songs. As I am getting closer to 30, my priorities have certainly changed.  I now find my thoughts are taken over more and more by things such as buying my wife a house, having children, getting a nice steady job in my graphic design field.  To me that is success. And to me that is way more exciting then going from town to town and never having the relationship part of me fulfilled.  I suppose you could call me "needy".  Whatever you want to say.  In ways I am. I need assurance  that at the end of the day I can come home to the woman I love, share my day with her, provide for her and to know that she feels the same. That is what I have. That is why I  consider myself to be very blessed and very lucky.  If I never record another song, or make millions of dollars, so what.  If those were the only things I were going for out of life, even after I achieved them I would still feel empty inside. Success to me is measured by more than just what we're wearing. Anyway, I'll keep you posted on the upcoming shows and such.  Thanks for reading.

SPRING BREAK

I get a week off from class/work and Rachel and I are flying to Colorado for a skiing/snowboarding vacation. Rockin.  I'll be glad to have a break from Deutsch Klass and graphic designing. The thought of visiting Denver with my fiance' feels like Christmas.  I'm sure that there will be great photo's to post. If there are then they will be on here in about a week.  :)
